“No One Can Challenge Me!” – Anambra Governor Soludo Boasts in Re-Election Bid

Soludo Confident of Re-Election, Says No Competent Opponent in Sight

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has expressed strong confidence in securing a second term in office, stating that he does not see any credible challenger capable of unseating him in the upcoming November 8 governorship election.

Soludo, who marked his third anniversary in office with a media chat, made it clear that his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), remains the dominant political force in Anambra. He asserted that the people of the state recognize APGA’s achievements and are likely to entrust the party with another four years.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) remarked that while Anambra voters might support different parties at the national level, they remain steadfastly loyal to APGA for state and local government elections.

“If there is an election – I mean, there will be an election – and if I am a candidate, I will be on the ballot. Then I ask: who else is running? Which party is fielding a candidate? So far, unless someone comes from nowhere, I have not heard of any,” Soludo stated.

APGA’s Dominance in Anambra Politics

Governor Soludo emphasized the political reality in Anambra, where APGA has established itself as the party of choice for governorship elections. He noted that his administration had delivered on the promises made to the people and that there was a general consensus that the party deserved another term.

His comments reflect the deep-rooted influence of APGA in the state, where it has consistently won gubernatorial elections since 2006. The party, founded by the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, has built a strong identity in the South-East region, with Anambra being its stronghold.

Calls for Soludo to Run Again

Although he has not officially declared his candidacy, Soludo disclosed that he has received overwhelming encouragement to seek a second term. He stressed, however, that the decision ultimately rests with APGA and the people of Anambra.

“The party has to agree to it and give me the platform. For me, I applied for this job intentionally because I felt it was my way of thanking God for His blessings and spending the rest of my life serving and making Anambra better than we met it,” he explained.

He further stated, “If my party nominates me and if my employers – the Anambra people – graciously renew my tenure, it will be a great honour and privilege to continue serving.”

The Road to November 8

With the governorship election months away, Soludo’s confidence signals the beginning of intense political maneuvering in the state. While he appears certain of victory, opposition parties are yet to present strong candidates who could challenge APGA’s dominance.

As the political climate heats up, the coming months will reveal whether any formidable opponents emerge to take on the incumbent governor or if Soludo’s prediction of an easy path to re-election will hold true.
