As Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Women Affairs, Senator Kingibe responded publicly to the growing concerns over a recent sexual harassment accusation involving her colleague, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

In a statement to the Nigerian people, Senator Kingibe addressed the ongoing discussions surrounding the issue, clarifying her position and emphasizing her unwavering stance on protecting the rights of women and fighting against all forms of gender-based violence. The senator made it clear that any perception of undermining the seriousness of the allegations against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was a misunderstanding, and that her initial response was simply to clarify that she had not been aware of the specific details before the case was raised in the Senate.
