The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced that the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will now commence on Thursday, April 24, moving up a day from the earlier slated date of April 25. This adjustment, JAMB noted, was necessary to accommodate critical operational engagements by the Board and its collaborating agencies.
The rescheduling was disclosed in a statement released by the Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, who confirmed that all arrangements for the conduct of the nationwide examination have been completed. He added that the Board is committed to ensuring that the examination process remains seamless, secure, and efficient.
In line with the preparatory measures, JAMB has activated the portal for candidates to print their 2025 UTME Examination Notification Slips, a crucial step in the lead-up to the exam. The slips, which became available on Saturday, April 19, contain essential information including candidate’s examination date, venue, time, and other relevant details necessary for a successful exam experience.
According to the statement, “Candidates are advised to promptly print their slips starting today, Saturday, April 19, 2025. This early access is intended to allow sufficient time for logistical planning and familiarize candidates with their assigned examination centres within their selected examination towns.”
To print the examination slip, candidates should visit www.jamb.gov.ng, enter their registration number, and then proceed to click on “Print Examination Slip.”
JAMB strongly advises that candidates complete this process well in advance of their examination date, preferably one or two days before, to allow time for any last-minute adjustments and to reduce the chances of logistical hiccups. The Board reiterated that no candidate would be assigned to a centre outside their chosen examination town, emphasizing the need to review the details printed on the notification slips carefully.
Benjamin underscored the importance of being well-prepared ahead of the examination date, especially in terms of knowing the exact location of the exam centre. “This level of preparation will go a long way in ensuring a smooth and stress-free experience on the day of the examination,” he said.
As part of its wider efforts to streamline the UTME process, JAMB has maintained close coordination with security personnel, examination partners, and tech providers to uphold the integrity and credibility of the examination. Reports suggest that monitoring teams are already being deployed to ensure compliance at designated centres and to curb malpractice or system failure during the test.
Meanwhile, candidates are being encouraged to not only print their slips but to also physically visit their exam centres ahead of time to avoid surprises. For candidates traveling to neighbouring towns for the exam, early planning could help avoid delays caused by transportation or unexpected road issues.
This year’s examination marks another crucial step in Nigeria’s annual university admissions cycle, with thousands of candidates competing for limited slots in public and private tertiary institutions. The UTME is a prerequisite for admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across the country.
JAMB has reiterated its commitment to transparency, fairness, and innovation in the conduct of the UTME. In recent years, the Board has leveraged technology to reduce errors, improve speed, and secure examination processes, and 2025 promises to continue that tradition.
As the countdown begins, JAMB has urged all stakeholders — candidates, parents, and educators — to play their part in ensuring the 2025 UTME is a success.
For now, the key message to candidates is clear: print your exam slip without delay, know your centre, and prepare well. The 2025 UTME is just around the corner, and readiness is everything.
