Ex-PDP Olisa Metuh Empowers Over 100 Indigents in Nnewi, Pledges Bigger Community Upliftment Ahead of 60th Birthday

NNEWI, ANAMBRA STATE – In a remarkable demonstration of philanthropy and community service, the Former National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh, through his non-governmental organization—The Olisa Metuh Foundation—has empowered over 100 indigent persons in his hometown of Otolo Nnewi.

The impactful event, which held on March 5, 2025, at Umuanuka Hall, Nnewi North Local Government Area, attracted notable dignitaries and witnessed a massive turnout of beneficiaries, well-wishers, and community members. The foundation disbursed ₦14 million in interest-free micro-credit loans to 28 selected individuals—each receiving ₦500,000 to boost their businesses. The loans are expected to be repaid to the bank in two installments annually, offering a flexible repayment plan to ease the financial burden.

In addition to the business loans, 14 young scholars were awarded academic scholarships worth ₦200,000 each. Other attendees also received financial support to help sustain or expand their businesses, based on individual needs assessed by the foundation.

Speaking at the gathering, Chief Metuh expressed his unwavering commitment to giving back to society. “I find immense joy in helping people. It’s something that gives me personal fulfillment and spiritual satisfaction,” he said. “I have always believed that when you help others, God blesses you even more in return.”

Looking ahead, Metuh announced an ambitious plan tied to a milestone celebration. As he prepares to mark his 60th birthday in November 2025, he pledged to empower 60 individuals from his community with ₦1 million each to further strengthen their businesses.

But his vision doesn't stop at financial assistance. In a forward-thinking move aimed at addressing unemployment and fostering sustainable development, Chief Metuh also disclosed plans to build a skill acquisition center in his community, Umuanuka in Otolo Nnewi. The center, once completed, will provide hands-on training to youths in various vocational fields. Graduates of the program will not only be skilled but will also receive startup capital and necessary equipment to launch their own enterprises.

“This is about long-term impact,” Metuh emphasized. “It’s not just about giving money, but creating opportunities that will transform lives and secure futures.”

The event was graced by several high-profile figures including the PDP Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government, Prince Ifeamuma Nwafor-Orizu, the Chairman of the Foundation’s Committee, Dr. Ikenna, and the Secretary of the Foundation, Mr. Onyedika Metuh.

Beneficiaries were visibly emotional and deeply grateful. Many took turns to offer heartfelt testimonies and prayers for the former PDP spokesperson. “May God continue to elevate and protect Chief Metuh,” one of the recipients declared. “This help came when I needed it most.”

As the political climate continues to evolve and attention shifts to upcoming elections, Chief Metuh’s act of community service serves as a reminder that leadership is not just about holding office, but about using influence and resources to uplift others. With plans to expand his philanthropic work in the months ahead, all eyes will be on November when he once again places the needs of his people at the heart of his birthday celebration.
