Hon. Chuddy Atuchukwu Uplifts Over 300 Fashion Designers in Nnewi South with Empowerment Initiative

In a heartwarming display of grassroots development and commitment to constituency upliftment, the member representing Nnewi South Constituency 1 in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Chuddy Nonso Atuchukwu, has rolled out a robust empowerment package for over 300 fashion designers in his constituency.

The event, held at the Umudim Ultra Modern Hall in Amichi on Sunday, was part of a constituency briefing and empowerment programme tagged “Obataifedi”, a title symbolizing abundance and impact. The initiative, spearheaded by Hon. Atuchukwu, saw beneficiaries go home with essential fashion business tools including sewing machines, weaving machines, electric pressing irons, mannequins, portable generators, and financial support to enhance their trade and expand their businesses.

The atmosphere at the venue was electric, with traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and youth groups from all 21 wards of the constituency gracing the occasion in solidarity and support. The overarching goal of the initiative, according to Hon. Atuchukwu, is to drive job creation, reduce youth unemployment, and elevate family incomes by equipping skilled individuals with the tools they need to thrive.

“This is more than just an empowerment programme. It is about investing in human capital. It is about turning trained youths into employers of labour. We’re building a self-reliant community, and fashion designers, being central to our cultural and creative economy, deserve this push,” the lawmaker stated.

Hon. Atuchukwu emphasized that the initiative was not a one-off event, but part of a broader plan of continuous empowerment and community development. He noted that this programme also supports the efforts of the Soludo-led administration’s One Youth, Two Skills initiative, which has trained thousands of young people across the state.

Beneficiaries of the programme were selected through a meticulous vetting and profiling process to ensure transparency and credibility. Hon. Atuchukwu made it clear that the exercise was devoid of political bias. “We selected beneficiaries strictly on merit. It did not matter what political party you belong to—APGA, APC, PDP, YPP or others. This is about capacity building, not politics,” he affirmed.

Among the beneficiaries were Mr. James Okwuchukwu, Miss Chidinma Mmesoma, and Mrs. Celina Onyemaechi, who could not hide their joy and gratitude. “This is a life-changing moment for me,” Chidinma exclaimed, holding her sewing machine. “I’ve always dreamed of owning my own equipment, and today it’s become a reality.” James echoed similar sentiments, promising to use the tools effectively and make the lawmaker proud.

For Hon. Atuchukwu, the empowerment of youths and women has been a consistent theme of his legislative career. He has previously facilitated similar interventions for traders, small-scale business owners, women cooperatives, and artisans across various sectors within his constituency.

Beyond the empowerment, the event also served as a political rallying point, with Hon. Atuchukwu urging constituents to remain resolute in their support for the APGA-led government. He lauded Governor Charles Soludo’s developmental strides and declared that the November 8 gubernatorial election would further affirm APGA’s unbroken mandate. “There is no vacancy in Government House,” he said confidently, throwing a direct jab at opposition parties.

He concluded with a passionate call for unity and collective progress, stressing that sustainable development can only be achieved when leaders and the people work in synergy, beyond partisan lines.

The Obataifedi initiative stands as a beacon of hope in a time where many seek meaningful support to rise above economic challenges. With this intervention, Hon. Chuddy Atuchukwu has not only empowered individuals but also sewn a stronger fabric of trust, hope, and growth in Nnewi South Constituency 1.
