Hon. Okonkwo Celebrated for Delivering Fully-Furnished Classroom Block to Nkpor Agu Community, Anambra State

In a glowing affirmation of people-centered leadership, Hon. Harris Uche Okonkwo, the member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has received widespread commendation for his unwavering commitment to grassroots development. The legislator recently handed over a newly constructed and fully furnished block of six classrooms to the Nkpor Agu community, a project he facilitated through the Sustainable Development Unit of the Federal Government.

The commissioning of the project was marked by heartfelt appreciation from local leaders and community members who described the initiative as a sign of genuine representation and a testament to Okonkwo’s deep-rooted commitment to the people who elected him.

Engr. Sir Emmanuel Idemili, Chairman of the Amafor Nkpor community, praised the lawmaker for not forgetting the needs of his constituents. According to him, Hon. Okonkwo has shown that he understands the core of political leadership — serving the people who entrusted him with their mandate.

“What Hon. Okonkwo has done is not just about building classrooms,” Sir Idemili said during the ceremony. “It is about building hope, creating opportunities, and proving that leadership is about service. Even though our community may not be aligned politically with him, he still chose to bring this project here. That is commendable.”

Sir Idemili went on to emphasize that true politics should transcend party affiliations and focus instead on the tangible impact leaders make in their communities. He highlighted that Hon. Okonkwo, a member of the Labour Party, had brought this developmental milestone to Nkpor Agu — a community known for its dominant support of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). This, he noted, reflects the legislator’s commitment to inclusive governance.

Prominent traditional figures and community stakeholders also echoed the sentiment of gratitude. Among those who spoke at the event were High Chief Emmanuel Udeze, the Onowu of Nkpor, Chief Raphael Obi (Osuofia Nkpor), and Chief Justine Uzoegwu (Agbogidi Nkpor). All praised Hon. Okonkwo’s humility and his dedication to delivering dividends of democracy to his constituents.

“Hon. Okonkwo is a man of his word,” said Chief Udeze. “This classroom block is just one of the many ways he’s proving that he truly cares about the development of Idemili North and South. He is not just sitting in Abuja; he is working for the people who sent him there.”

Responding to the outpouring of appreciation, Hon. Okonkwo expressed joy at the support and recognition from the Nkpor Agu community. He reaffirmed his commitment to providing quality representation and revealed that the educational project was born out of his passion for empowering young people through access to affordable, quality learning environments.

“I am deeply encouraged by your support,” Hon. Okonkwo said. “This classroom block is just a starting point. Education is a fundamental right, and I believe our children deserve the best. I will continue to pursue more development projects that will touch every corner of our constituency.”

He urged the community to continue supporting his legislative agenda, assuring them that his office remains open to ideas, needs, and feedback from constituents. “Together, we can transform Idemili. My goal is to see smiles on the faces of our people,” he added.

The classroom project is one in a growing list of initiatives that Hon. Okonkwo has spearheaded since assuming office. It stands not only as a structure of bricks and mortar but as a symbol of his promise to prioritize his people, irrespective of political leanings.

As the sun set on the commissioning day, it was evident that Hon. Harris Uche Okonkwo had not only built a classroom block — he had reinforced the trust of a grateful community.
