Nnewi North LGA Chairman Anazodo Earns Ibeto’s Praise for Transparent Leadership and Development Drive

A major milestone in Nnewi’s infrastructural development was recently marked with the commissioning of a newly constructed drainage system, completed within an impressive span of just sixteen days. The project, heralded by residents as a significant step toward resolving the town’s longstanding flood issues, was commissioned by industrialist and Chairman of the Ibeto Group, Chief Cletus Ibeto.

Chief Ibeto, a renowned figure in the Nigerian business landscape and a respected voice within the community, took the opportunity to commend the proactive leadership of the local government Chairman, Mr. Anazodo. Highlighting the importance of progressive governance, he praised Anazodo’s commitment to delivering practical, community-driven projects.

At the heart of the event was a broader message from Chief Ibeto, who urged residents of Nnewi to embrace more responsible waste management habits. He emphasized that the sustainability of public infrastructure depends heavily on citizen cooperation. “Nnewi is a holy and progressive land. During the civil war, while others fled, Nnewi people stayed. That’s the spirit that drives our success,” he remarked, calling for a stronger “think-home philosophy” among the town’s indigenes.

Reflecting on Nnewi’s legacy of resilience and innovation, Chief Ibeto declared his unwavering support for Anazodo’s initiative to develop all four quarters of the town — Otolo, Umudim, Uruagu, and Nnewichi — in tandem. “Nnewi has what it takes to be great,” he affirmed with conviction.

Addressing recent controversies, Ibeto strongly defended Anazodo against rumors of financial misconduct, labeling such claims as baseless and politically motivated. His public endorsement of the Chairman’s transparency and youthful energy resonated deeply with many in attendance. He pledged sustained support for the local administration and emphasized the value of integrity in leadership.

Anazodo, visibly moved by the show of solidarity, responded with a renewed commitment to further development across the region. Among the next projects on his agenda is the reconstruction of a key road connecting to the newly built drainage channel at Oduda. He also outlined his administration’s mission to tackle road deterioration and eliminate potholes throughout the local government area.

Highlighting the importance of inclusivity in governance, Anazodo acknowledged the role of community elders and praised the dedication of his team. “I run a transparent government. At 40, I am too young to be corrupt,” he declared. “Chief Ibeto is like a father to me, and I am grateful for his selfless support.”

The event drew a cross-section of community leaders who expressed gratitude for the Chairman’s responsiveness to local concerns. Mr. Ikechukwu Obi, President-General of Nnewichi, and former PG Chief Soge Egbuna both applauded the administration’s efforts to mitigate flooding, noting that the new drainage project addressed challenges that had plagued residents for decades.

Women leaders were equally vocal in their approval, hailing the intervention as timely and long overdue. Their support reflected the broader community’s appreciation for a government that listens and delivers.

Further reinforcing his commitment to grassroots engagement, Anazodo led Chief Ibeto and other dignitaries on a tour of Agbo-Edo Market, Nkwo Nnewi. He showcased the ongoing construction of stalls designed to accommodate iced-fish dealers and other vendors. Speaking directly to the traders, he assured them of fair taxation policies and improved facilities. “My own mother is a trader here,” he revealed. “There will be no illegal taxes under this administration. If you have doubts, ask your market leadership or come to the Council office for clarification.”

The day’s activities concluded with a visit to the newly completed Ukwaka Bridge in Umudim, slated for commissioning by Governor Charles Soludo. The bridge stands as another symbol of the administration’s resolve to enhance connectivity and infrastructure.

Chief Ibeto closed the occasion by expressing confidence in Governor Soludo’s leadership, pledging community support for his second term. He reaffirmed his commitment to partnering with Anazodo to advance the vision of a stronger, more prosperous Nnewi.

As the town continues to witness visible progress, the blend of elder statesmanship and youthful leadership appears to be creating a blueprint for sustainable growth rooted in unity, action, and a shared love for home.
