Ex-APC Loyalist Breaks Silence Online, Expresses Deep Regret as Tinubu’s Government Pushes Him Into Poverty

A former supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has come forward with a raw and emotional confession, highlighting the worsening economic situation in Nigeria and how it has shattered his once unwavering faith in the All Progressives Congress (APC). The anonymous revelation, shared through social media platform X (formerly Twitter), has ignited a nationwide conversation around voter regret, hardship, and the real-life consequences of political loyalty.

The message, posted by user @Wizarab10, quickly gained traction online. It painted a bleak picture of the life of an average Nigerian who once hoped for a better future under the current administration but now finds himself unable to afford even a ₦100 recharge card.

“Don’t know what to do with my life, sincerely… ardent supporter of this current administration and I can’t even afford money to buy 100 naira card… Regret 2023, do not let Tinubu come back… God will help me,” the post read.

What was once a passionate belief in a political movement has turned into profound regret, according to the writer. He claimed he had backed the APC during the 2023 elections with full conviction, trusting the promises made by then-candidate Tinubu. However, over a year into his administration, the economic situation has reportedly become unbearable for many Nigerians like him.

The anonymous user did not stop at expressing personal hardship. He went further to issue a warning to fellow citizens, urging them not to repeat the mistake in the 2027 general elections. According to him, allowing Tinubu to return would be equivalent to worsening an already dire national situation. His words struck a nerve with many, especially among Nigerians who are themselves grappling with rising inflation, job loss, and dwindling purchasing power.

Online reactions have been swift, mixed, and at times brutal. Some users offered no sympathy. One X user, @Xmatt_debrisky, dismissed the complaint, writing, “I’m a die-hard fan of Tinubu-politics. I’m a phone technician and that’s where I make a living. Find urself a job, loser!!” His response represents a section of Nigerians who remain unapologetically loyal to the current administration.

Others were less forgiving. @VictoriousDre responded harshly: “God will not help you. You people put Nigeria through hell during and after the elections.” His sentiment was echoed by many who still feel bitter about the events surrounding the 2023 elections and believe APC supporters should take responsibility for the state of the nation.

Another commenter, @BishopSammyeL, sarcastically questioned the authenticity of the post. “You can’t afford ₦100 recharge card but still afford data to post this? Pick a struggle,” he wrote.

Not all reactions were hostile. Some users showed understanding and pointed to a systemic problem beyond one individual. One comment read, “There has never been a political savior in Nigeria. You have to hustle your way out of poverty.” That user, @alphalathy, believes self-reliance is the only reliable path in a country that continues to fail its citizens.

Meanwhile, other critics used the post as a reflection of misplaced trust. “You don’t know what to do with your life? No wonder you supported him in the first place,” wrote @harntoney, questioning the judgment of voters who expected transformational change without credible evidence to support it.

This emotional outburst comes at a time when Nigeria is experiencing sharp economic downturns. The removal of fuel subsidies, floating of the naira, and rising cost of living have made daily survival difficult for many. Public transport fares, food prices, and utility bills have all risen sharply. For many who placed their faith in the promises of prosperity and renewal made by President Tinubu, the reality has been nothing short of disillusionment.

The online confession has become a digital symbol of growing dissatisfaction among ordinary Nigerians. It has also sparked broader questions about voter education, political accountability, and the human cost of governance failures.

With the 2027 elections still years away, this post stands as a sobering reminder of how quickly political euphoria can fade when economic hardship takes hold. Whether this voter’s plea will influence the next electoral cycle remains to be seen, but the raw honesty of his message is undeniably resonating across the country.
