The serene ambiance of Acropolis Gardens and Residence, nestled in the cultural heart of Okija, Anambra State, was the site of a powerful display of unity and generosity on Saturday, July 5, 2025. De Imperial Philanthropic Family (DIPF), a prestigious assembly of 207 influential Igbo billionaires, held their extraordinary general meeting and set into motion a historic philanthropic movement that promises to reshape the socio-economic fabric of the Southeast.
Presided over by the National President, Imperial Super High Chief Darlington Nwabunike, also known as Ogbaluaku n’anwu na Ojoto and Eze Nwakaibeya, the gathering was marked by vision, purpose, and an unwavering dedication to humanity. Under his dynamic leadership, the coalition unveiled far-reaching plans centered on health, education, and empowerment, aligning with the group’s foundational mantra: “Living for Humanity.”
An atmosphere of infectious generosity overtook the event as contributions began pouring in. In a remarkable demonstration of solidarity and shared vision, DIPF members raised an astounding ₦495 million within just 30 minutes. This figure dwarfed their initial target of ₦50 million and reaffirmed the members’ steadfast commitment to the cause.
The funds were not just pledged but put to immediate use. With precision and urgency, the group disbursed ₦26.5 million the same day to offset medical bills for 37 financially struggling patients across hospitals in Anambra State. The action served as a lifeline to the beneficiaries, many of whom had been trapped in hospitals for months due to unpaid bills.
Dr. Darlington Nwabunike affirmed that this was just the beginning. He stated that similar interventions will be launched in the remaining four Southeastern states: Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo. The goal, he emphasized, is to ensure that no indigent patient is denied critical medical care due to a lack of funds. “Healthcare is a right, not a privilege,” he noted. “This is a moral imperative for us as leaders of influence.”
Education, too, received a significant boost. The coalition approved comprehensive scholarship packages for 700 academically deserving but financially challenged students spread across the five Southeastern states. These scholarships will cover tuition, books, uniforms, and other educational materials, effectively lifting a major burden off families struggling to support their children’s dreams.
To complement the scholarships, DIPF also revealed plans to construct and fully equip five modern school blocks. One block will be built in each of the five Southeastern states. These educational facilities, according to the blueprint, will feature state-of-the-art classrooms, libraries, science laboratories, and ICT centers. The intention is to redefine what public schooling looks like in the region and set a new benchmark for excellence in learning environments.
Prominent dignitaries graced the occasion, underscoring the group’s influential reach. Among them were HRM Ebuka Onunkwo, CEO of Seahorse Lubricant Oil; High Chief Ifekudu, Super Agbalanze Na Ozubulu; High Chief Abraham Otti, Mighty Mighty Na Umuchu; Super High Chief Henry Orabuchi, Teka Ikenga Ogberuru; UCHEMEK, Omeihe-Ukwu; and Chinetugo Na Obodoukwu Kingdom.
Also present were Chief Dr. Onyeka C. Ogbatu of Don Perry, Don Peé Wines & Beverages LTD; Chief Dr. Lucky E. Udenka, Onyinyechukwunyere Dunukofia; Ozo Nwanchinemere Amuruonye n’Ego na Nsukka; Eze Abrikete of Umuchu; Onwa Na Isuochi; Nwachinemere Na Ihiala; Ogbaturuenyi Na Ichida; Afunwa Na Abagana; and Ebekuodike Na Abagana. These personalities, each distinguished in their spheres, added gravitas and symbolism to the occasion.
The convergence of these business and traditional titans reflected not just wealth, but a unity of purpose among the Igbo elite. Their presence reaffirmed a shared belief in using prosperity for the upliftment of others and in turning influence into impact.
The extraordinary general meeting of DIPF has now set a benchmark not just for Igboland but for all regions seeking to harness indigenous resources and leadership to drive development. It has demonstrated that when vision meets commitment, the results can be nothing short of transformative.
Through decisive actions and heartfelt generosity, De Imperial Philanthropic Family has reignited the hope of thousands and lit a path for sustainable grassroots development in Southeastern Nigeria.
