A prominent Nigerian cleric, Rev Yinka Yusuf, founder of the House of Love Church, has forecast that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi will secure not less than 30 million votes in the 2027 general election. According to him, such a margin would guarantee victory and alter Nigeria’s political landscape.
The cleric, speaking passionately in a recently circulated video, maintained that Obi’s popularity and the passion of his supporters had unsettled the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He stressed that the growing “Obidient Movement” represented not only a political force but also a significant shift in citizen participation across the country.
Yusuf explained that critics often downplay Obi’s influence by claiming his support base exists primarily on social media, but he argued that the attention such critics give to online discussions proves otherwise. He pointed out that if the ruling party and its members consistently mention Obi’s supposed lack of structure, it is because they are genuinely disturbed by the momentum the movement continues to generate online and offline.
The evangelist said, “They are always talking about Peter Obi’s structure on social media because it scares them. If they insist that his supporters are only online, then why are they constantly monitoring what those same supporters are saying online? The truth is obvious, people are paying attention to this movement.”
While acknowledging the prevalence of false information on the internet, Yusuf insisted that his network is capable of filtering the lies from the truth. He revealed that even before Obi personally began emphasizing the importance of building structures, he had already taken the responsibility to act as a structure for the Labour Party leader. According to him, thousands of Nigerians both at home and abroad trust his influence, and he has successfully convinced many to align with Obi’s political vision.
Although he refrained from painting Obi as flawless, the preacher described him as a man of integrity and accountability. “He is not a saint, and no politician has it all, but Peter Obi is a good man worth trusting. That alone is enough reason for us to rally around him. I trust him, and because of that trust, I will stand with him,” Yusuf stated.
He further revealed that fresh strategies are being developed to strengthen Obi’s chances in 2027, although he avoided disclosing specific plans. He stressed that certain ideas must remain confidential to prevent opponents from undermining them. The cleric, however, assured supporters that the strategies are strong enough to guarantee victory without complications.
Yusuf continued, “If Peter Obi can receive 30 million votes, then he has already won the election. And with the plans we have, getting beyond 30 million votes is achievable. The ruling party underestimates the capacity of those who are committed to change, but we know what we are doing. This time, the political system will be confronted with a new approach.”
Highlighting his experience in mobilization, the evangelist noted that as a preacher he had filled stadiums with thousands of people and would use this ability to help Obi’s movement. According to him, the same organizational skills that gather crowds for spiritual purposes will be applied in mobilizing Nigerians politically.
He also emphasized that faith leaders and influencers across the country should not shy away from civic engagement when the future of the nation is at stake. By standing with Obi, Yusuf believes he is backing a man who represents a genuine alternative to the entrenched political structures that have dominated for years.
The cleric’s remarks have already stirred conversations online, with Obi’s supporters welcoming his open endorsement and commitment to grassroots mobilization. Many see this as an additional boost to Obi’s political capital, particularly as the Labour Party continues its efforts to strengthen its base ahead of 2027.
Observers note that the support of influential voices like Rev Yusuf could play a decisive role in bridging the gap between online enthusiasm and tangible votes at polling stations. With Nigeria’s voter population expected to expand further before 2027, mobilization on such a scale could reshape the dynamics of the election.
Rev Yinka Yusuf concluded by reiterating his confidence in Obi’s chances. “We have the numbers, we have the passion, and we have the strategy. What is left is to execute, and by God’s grace, we will deliver more than 30 million votes,” he affirmed.
As 2027 gradually approaches, attention will continue to focus on whether the Obidient Movement can sustain its momentum and translate social media energy into ballot box success. For now, Rev Yusuf’s declaration has injected new optimism into the movement and reignited debates on what the future holds for Nigeria’s political landscape.
