Reality TV star and billionaire heir Kiddwaya has once again found himself at the center of public conversation after making a bold declaration about his life choices and career philosophy. Speaking during an appearance on the Off The Record podcast, the former Big Brother Naija housemate revealed that his full-time occupation is simply living life to the fullest.
The self-proclaimed “man of leisure” explained that he has no interest in conventional work or business, a statement that has since stirred mixed reactions online. According to Kiddwaya, whose father Terry Waya is a well-known Nigerian billionaire businessman, his daily routine revolves around enjoying the privileges and freedom that come with wealth.
While many might expect someone from such a privileged background to be deeply involved in business ventures or philanthropy, Kiddwaya took a different route. He admitted that his only true commitment is to enjoyment, adventure, and maintaining his personal and family reputation. He described his lifestyle as one driven by spontaneity and fun rather than professional ambitions.
During the conversation, he painted a vivid picture of what an average day in his life looks like. “What I do for a living is that I wake up, I decide what destination I want to fly to, I go to that destination, I’m with my boys and girls and have fun; we drink, eat, and party. And we repeat,” he stated with ease.
His words carried an air of unapologetic confidence. Kiddwaya emphasized that he is not trying to fit into societal expectations of what success should look like. For him, success is not tied to hard labor or financial struggle but to happiness, freedom, and peace of mind. “I’m a man of leisure. My view on life is live it to the fullest. I’m not interested in working,” he said.
The ex-BBNaija star added that there was a time he tried to conform to the world’s expectations by claiming to be involved in oil trading and other business ventures. However, he soon realized that those claims did not represent his truth. He chose instead to embrace authenticity and present himself exactly as he is, the son of a rich man who enjoys his inheritance without guilt or pretense.
“I can tell you I am into oil and trade but that is not my truth. It was my truth before, trying to figure out how to tell the world what I do. The world is not trying to hear that. So, I’m giving them my truth and also the truth they want to hear, which is I am a rich man’s son and I’m living my life January to January. I’m having fun,” Kiddwaya confessed.
This declaration has divided opinions among Nigerians. Some see it as refreshing honesty in a culture where many pretend to be self-made, while others view it as arrogance and a reflection of privilege detached from reality. Social media platforms have been buzzing with reactions ranging from admiration to criticism, with many questioning the sustainability and purpose of such a lifestyle.
Kiddwaya, however, appears unbothered by public opinion. He maintained that his focus is on maintaining integrity and ensuring that his name and that of his family remain untarnished. Despite not having a traditional career, he said he works hard to avoid scandals and negative publicity. To him, safeguarding his reputation is a form of work in itself.
He also spoke briefly about marriage, revealing that he has no intention of changing his lifestyle even after settling down. Kiddwaya explained that any woman he marries must be one who shares his passion for fun and adventure. “Marriage will not change me from living for a living. I will marry a woman who also loves to have fun,” he said confidently.
The reality TV personality argued that many people, if given his kind of privilege, would likely misuse it or make poor choices. He credited himself for exercising restraint and balance despite being exposed to immense luxury and temptation. According to him, enjoying life does not mean being reckless; rather, it involves making wise decisions while still maximizing the joys of life.
Kiddwaya’s statement echoes a growing trend among some young Nigerians who are redefining what success means. For many, the traditional path of working long hours to build wealth is being replaced by the pursuit of lifestyle satisfaction and mental freedom. Kiddwaya’s open declaration may therefore resonate with a generation that values experiences over possessions and personal freedom over societal validation.
Yet, his comments also highlight the divide between Nigeria’s elite and the everyday realities of ordinary citizens. While millions struggle to make ends meet in a tough economy, Kiddwaya’s care-free approach underscores the vast gap between privilege and poverty. His ability to “live for a living” is one afforded to very few, a fact that fuels both fascination and frustration among his audience.
Regardless of how one interprets his message, Kiddwaya has once again proven his ability to spark discussion and controversy. His boldness to embrace and publicly declare a lifestyle of leisure, rather than conceal it behind the veil of business titles or fake humility, sets him apart from many of his peers. For better or worse, he has chosen to own his truth completely and live it without apology.
In a world where many feel pressured to justify their success or explain their wealth, Kiddwaya’s philosophy is simple: life is meant to be lived, enjoyed, and experienced to its fullest, not endured through endless labor. His story may be polarizing, but it undeniably reflects the freedom that comes from knowing exactly who you are and what you value most.
