"I Don’t Answer These Types of Characters " - Peter Obi Refuses To Respond To Presidential Aide Daniel Bwala [VIDEO]

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has announced he will not respond to comments made by President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide, Daniel Bwala, who accused him of financial impropriety while serving as governor of Anambra State. Bwala had claimed that Obi fraudulently kept state government funds in a bank to earn interest for personal gain.

Speaking on a popular podcast, Obi described the allegation as false and motivated by financial envy. He explained that Bwala’s attacks were not based on facts but rather aimed at tarnishing his reputation. Obi emphasized that the presidential aide had never visited Anambra State, suggesting that the accusations came from a place of ignorance rather than knowledge of the state’s finances.

Obi detailed his financial stewardship during his tenure as governor, insisting that all obligations were met before he left office. He stressed that salaries, gratuities, pensions, and payments to suppliers were all fully settled, and that no debts were left behind. According to him, the state’s accounts reflected responsible management, and any claims of misappropriation were unfounded.

Addressing Bwala’s specific allegation about keeping state funds in a bank where he held a chairmanship position, Obi dismissed it as a misunderstanding of basic financial operations. He explained that the concept of assets and liabilities should be considered, noting that what might appear as “savings” must be offset by obligations. He maintained that when this calculation was made, there was no surplus that could be considered personal gain.

Obi described Bwala’s statement as "pure 419," a reference to fraudulent schemes, and indicated that he would not dignify such claims with a detailed response. He suggested that such narratives were part of a broader effort to distract from his track record of accountability and effective governance in Anambra State.

Observers note that the exchange highlights the rising tensions in Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly as former governors and presidential candidates become the focus of public scrutiny. Obi’s decision to ignore Bwala reflects a strategy of focusing on achievements and refusing to engage in what he views as baseless attacks.

Obi concluded by reinforcing his commitment to integrity and transparency, asserting that the state’s finances were managed responsibly under his leadership. His refusal to respond to Bwala underscores a determination to rise above personal attacks and focus on the issues that matter to the citizens of Anambra and Nigeria as a whole.
