Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has expressed deep worry over the recent decision by the United States government to classify Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC), a move that includes the possibility of military action against the West African nation. Obi described the development as a serious indication of Nigeria’s deteriorating security and governance conditions, urging immediate and competent leadership to steer the country away from further crisis.

According to Obi, the alarming level of insecurity ravaging the nation has become a source of pain for millions of Nigerians. He highlighted the countless lives lost, homes destroyed, and families displaced as a result of persistent violence and poor governance.
