Senator Ndume Condemns Boko Haram Attacks Killing Farmers, Burning Church And Abducting Women In Borno Communities

 

Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South has expressed deep concern over a series of violent attacks carried out by Boko Haram in multiple communities across Borno State. The senator confirmed that four farmers were killed while harvesting crops in Kwam village near Dille community in Askira Uba Local Government Area. The renewed wave of violence has left residents traumatized and local infrastructure destroyed.

The senator highlighted that terrorists also targeted Pemi community in Chibok Local Government Area, where they set ablaze the EYN Church, shops, and vehicles, leaving the community in shock. He further revealed that Shikarkir community in Chibok suffered a similar fate on Wednesday, November 12, when seven individuals, including a woman with her children, a pastor’s two daughters, and the wife of Mr. Smith Shikarkir with her baby, were abducted during the attack.

Senator Ndume described the situation as worrisome, emphasizing that the inability of security agencies to effectively secure these remote communities has emboldened the terrorists to carry out attacks without confrontation. He expressed grave concern over the pattern of violence, which has disrupted the lives of ordinary citizens and caused significant loss of life and property.

The senator commended Governor Babagana Zulum for his swift response, noting the deployment of the State Emergency Agency (SEMA) and other stakeholders to provide relief materials to the affected communities. He called for urgent military intervention, urging the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Waidi Shaibu, to deploy additional troops to protect lives and properties in the communities currently under threat.

Ndume extended his condolences to the victims and the families affected by the attacks, stressing the need for immediate action to prevent further loss. He emphasized that without reinforced security, vulnerable communities will continue to suffer from repeated terrorist invasions, undermining peace and stability in the region.

Local residents have described the attacks as devastating, with many forced to flee their homes to escape violence. The destruction of homes, farms, and places of worship has compounded the challenges faced by these communities, which already struggle with limited access to security and emergency services.

Authorities are yet to confirm the total number of individuals abducted or the full extent of the property damage. However, the calls from political leaders like Senator Ndume underscore the urgency of addressing the persistent threat posed by Boko Haram and the critical need for coordinated military and humanitarian intervention.

The recent attacks signal a troubling resurgence of terrorist activities in Borno State, threatening to destabilize communities that are still recovering from previous attacks. The senator's appeal reflects growing concerns among citizens and leaders about the effectiveness of existing security measures and the urgent need for comprehensive protection strategies.
