Survivors Of Brutal Kwara Nigeria Church Attack Reveal Terrifying Captivity Experiences Inside Dangerous Bandits Den [VIDEO]

 

A chilling account has emerged from one of the 38 individuals abducted during a violent attack at Christ Apostolic Church in Ekuru, Kwara State. The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 23, as worshippers gathered to celebrate a thanksgiving service for members previously kidnapped and released. The jubilant atmosphere quickly turned into terror when heavily armed bandits stormed the church premises, abducting the congregants in a shocking assault.

The released victims, who regained freedom on Sunday, November 24, described their captivity as both frightening and grueling. A middle-aged man among the freed worshippers recounted the terrifying sequence of events during the attack, emphasizing the sudden eruption of gunfire and the overwhelming panic that ensued. "Thirty minutes into the programme after the praises, we started hearing gunshots. Initially I didn't know it was gunshots; I thought it was some wires sparking. By the time we understood what was happening, they had surrounded the whole church," he explained. Eyewitnesses also observed drops of blood in the area, heightening the fear and confusion as the attack unfolded.

According to the man, the abductors displayed intimate knowledge of the terrain, making any attempt at escape nearly impossible. "When we got there, we noticed it was a dominated area by these people called bandits. They had the courage to tell themselves that they are bandits. They made us know that there is no one that can slip away without being caught," he stated. The group soon realized that the bandits had full control over the surrounding bush paths and were familiar with all possible escape routes across Kwara and neighboring states.

The victims’ narratives paint a stark picture of the conditions in which they were held, describing a hostile environment where fear and uncertainty were constant companions. While specifics about their treatment remain sensitive, the survivors stressed the psychological and emotional strain endured throughout their captivity. The ordeal highlights the growing threat posed by armed bandits in rural areas of Nigeria, particularly targeting religious gatherings and vulnerable communities.

Authorities have not provided detailed updates on the measures being taken to prevent such attacks, but the incident has reignited calls for increased security around places of worship.
