Nnewi Prepares for Digital Week 2025 as Innovation, Industry, and Technology Take Center Stage

 

Nnewi, the industrial heart of Anambra State, is poised for a groundbreaking transformation as it gets ready to host the inaugural Nnewi Digital Week 2025, a dynamic four-day event designed to catapult the city into the forefront of Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital landscape. The initiative, a collaboration between Nnewi Digital Community and Nnewi North Local Government, is set to take place from May 1 to May 4, bringing together some of the sharpest minds and most influential voices in tech, governance, and enterprise.

Digital Week 2025 promises to be more than a calendar fixture; it’s a statement of intent—an expression of the city’s ambitions to become a central player in Nigeria’s digital revolution. For a town known for its manufacturing prowess and entrepreneurial spirit, this marks a strategic and symbolic pivot into the tech space.

At the heart of the festivities is the Digital Symposium & Awards, scheduled for May 2 at The Nnewi Hotel. The event will commence at 9:00 a.m., and is expected to draw a high-profile audience of entrepreneurs, policy leaders, innovators, and youth changemakers. A lineup of distinguished speakers will lend their expertise to conversations centered on innovation, infrastructure, health-tech, governance, and digital inclusivity.

Cornel Osigwe, the convener of the event and Director of Corporate Communications at INNOSON Group, described the upcoming week as a transformative moment for the region. “This is not just another tech event,” he said. “We’re bringing together visionaries, policymakers, and innovators to shape the future of our digital landscape. This is Nnewi’s time to lead.”

Adding weight to the symposium is Mark Okoye, Managing Director and CEO of the South East Development Commission. His anticipated address will spotlight regional digital policy and infrastructure development, a key theme for the southeast’s growing digital economy. Joining him will be Emeka Monye, correspondent at Arise News, who brings a journalist’s perspective on the evolution of innovation and governance in Nigeria.

Healthcare, a vital sector often left out of tech conversations, will have a strong presence thanks to Prof. Joseph Ugboaja, OON, Chief Medical Director of NAUTH, whose work at the intersection of medicine and innovation continues to inspire. Chinwe Okoli, Special Adviser to the Anambra State Governor on Innovation, is also slated to speak, emphasizing government-backed strategies to nurture local tech ecosystems.

The real estate and property tech sector will be well represented by Dr. Okafor Nonso Smart, MD/CEO of ReapFold Property, who has gained recognition for digitizing processes in Nigeria’s housing sector. Smart will be joined by Bill Achusim, founder of Nnewi Tech Faculty, a leading force behind tech education and youth empowerment in the region.

Chinelo Mbonu, a celebrated community manager with a track record of building robust digital communities, is also expected to contribute her insights on how grassroots engagement and startup support can drive sustainable innovation.

Further amplifying the symposium’s cultural and influencer appeal will be actor and tech advocate Jide Kene Achufusi, alongside digital strategist Tosin Yakubu. Christian Udechukwu, Commissioner for Industries in Anambra State, will round out the state’s representation at the event, offering insights into how government initiatives are aligning industrial goals with technological advancement.
