Obi Cubana Backs Soludo’s Second Term, Predicts Landslide Victory as Re-election Bid Gains Steam

Awka, Nigeria — As political momentum steadily builds in Anambra State ahead of the November 2025 gubernatorial election, a prominent voice from the business and social scene has joined the chorus rallying behind the incumbent governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo. Obinna Tochukwu Iyiegbu, better known to many as Obi Cubana, has declared unwavering support for Soludo’s re-election bid under the banner of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The endorsement comes in the wake of Soludo’s unanimous re-election as APGA’s flagbearer, a development that has energized his supporters and cemented his standing within the party. Over the weekend, APGA’s political machinery across all 21 local government areas in Anambra State visibly showed its alignment with Soludo’s second term aspiration, reinforcing what many are already calling an unstoppable wave.

Obi Cubana, the renowned businessman and philanthropist, hailed Soludo’s administration as transformative, stating during a recent tour of state-led projects that the governor’s achievements have raised the bar for governance in Anambra. He emphasized that what is unfolding in the state under Soludo’s leadership may very well redefine the narrative of development and infrastructure in the Southeast.

“For the first time in the political history of Anambra, we might be heading into an election where there is no real contest,” Obi Cubana remarked. “This won’t just be a victory — it will be a landslide.”

Cubana, who hails from Anambra and has long been a vocal advocate for regional growth and investment, cited specific accomplishments that have earned Soludo widespread praise. Chief among them is the governor’s commitment to infrastructural rejuvenation, youth-focused policies, and urban transformation projects that seek to revitalize the state’s economic and social environment.

“The governor promised us a new Anambra,” Cubana continued. “He’s not focusing on ticking off boxes for what’s been done. He’s thinking ahead, aiming for the things that are yet to be done. That’s a visionary mindset. He’s clearly not complacent — he’s driven.”

One standout project that Cubana highlighted was the upcoming “Fun City,” an ambitious recreational and entertainment complex designed with families and children in mind. According to him, this kind of investment is symbolic of a leadership that’s planning for the next generation, not just the current electoral cycle.

“It’s one thing to repair roads and build markets. It’s another to invest in joy — in places where our kids can dream and where families can bond. That tells me Soludo is building not just infrastructure, but hope,” Cubana said.

The Cubana Group chairman’s endorsement adds to a growing list of influential figures and grassroots organizations that are throwing their support behind Soludo, who took office in 2022 following a hotly contested election. Since then, Soludo’s tenure has been characterized by bold economic reforms, an ambitious digital governance agenda, and a focus on inclusive growth.

As the countdown to the 2025 gubernatorial election accelerates, analysts say APGA’s early consolidation and high-profile endorsements such as Cubana’s could spell trouble for opposition parties still struggling to define a clear strategy or present viable challengers.

In the words of Cubana, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Soludo has not only taken that step — he’s sprinting.”

With confidence levels soaring among supporters and political groundwork seemingly solidified across the state, Anambra’s political terrain may indeed be witnessing what could become one of the least contentious, yet most defining, elections in recent memory.
