Benin Tragedy: Mystery Deepens as Husband Allegedly Kills Wife, Flees with Her Corpse

A tragic incident has rocked the Ogbelaka community around Sakponba Road in Benin City, Edo State, where a woman identified as Chinwedu Nnadozie reportedly died after a violent assault by her husband, Esosa Imasuen.

The couple, said to reside on Oza Street, were involved in a domestic altercation that quickly escalated. According to sources close to the family, the mother of three suffered severe injuries allegedly inflicted by her husband during the dispute. She was later rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel diagnosed her with internal bleeding. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to the injuries before any substantial medical intervention could be carried out.

Everistus Nnadozie, father of the deceased, recounted the harrowing news he received concerning his daughter. He explained that he was informed his son-in-law had beaten Chinwedu and taken her to a hospital after she began to deteriorate. Upon arriving at the hospital, however, he discovered that his daughter had already passed away. To his dismay, her body had been moved by Imasuen to an undisclosed mortuary without his consent or presence.

Efforts by the grieving father to locate his daughter’s remains have been unsuccessful. He said multiple attempts to contact Imasuen to reveal the location of the mortuary have been ignored. When he visited the couple’s home, neighbors told him the man had vanished without a trace.

Community members remain stunned by the developments, expressing concern over the whereabouts of Imasuen and demanding swift action from authorities. Eyewitnesses and neighbors claim the couple often had disagreements, but no one anticipated such a tragic outcome.

Questions surrounding the police response add another layer to the unfolding drama. When contacted for comment, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command said that checks across multiple stations in Benin City revealed no formal report of the incident had been filed. This revelation has sparked outrage among residents who believe the situation warrants immediate investigation.

As the manhunt for Esosa Imasuen intensifies, Chinwedu’s family is left in agony, with no closure and no access to her remains. The circumstances surrounding her death and the mystery of her body’s location continue to raise alarm, with calls growing louder for law enforcement to intervene and ensure justice is served.

For now, Ogbelaka mourns a daughter lost to domestic violence, and a family waits in pain, searching not only for answers but for the body of a woman taken too soon.
