Governor Alia Deploys Special Forces: Benue State Receives Tactical Reinforcements as Alia Responds to Renewed Attacks

 

Benue State has begun witnessing the arrival of elite tactical squads as part of an intensified security strategy orchestrated by Governor Hyacinth Alia to combat a surge in violent attacks, including the recent deadly assault in Yelwata. The deployment, sanctioned by the Federal Government, aims to restore calm in troubled communities grappling with repeated incidents of violence allegedly perpetrated by armed herdsmen.

Governor Alia, addressing the pressing situation through a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Tersoo Kula, condemned the brutal killings in Yelwata. He described the attackers as “criminal elements suspected to be armed herdsmen” and expressed deep sympathy for the affected residents. The statement, made public in Makurdi, emphasized the state government’s resolve to shield citizens from further harm and restore lasting peace.

Heavy deployment of tactical response units and security operatives is now underway, with vulnerable communities identified as priority zones for immediate intervention. The influx of personnel is part of a broader, multi-layered security framework, including coordinated intelligence sharing, community engagement, and fortified joint operations among state and federal forces.

“Our hearts go out to the grieving families in Yelwata. These attacks are not just senseless—they are an affront to our shared humanity,” Alia said. “The pain and trauma caused by the violence are deeply felt, and the government stands united with the people during this dark hour.”
