Police Inspector Olowookere Detained for Beating Wife Over School Fees in Front of Crying Children [VIDEO]

A serving Nigerian police officer, Inspector Olowookere Michael, has been arrested after a disturbing video surfaced showing him viciously assaulting his wife in the presence of their terrified children. The officer, identified by service number AP/No. 312249 and attached to the MOPOL 39 Squadron in Osogbo, was taken into custody following public outrage and internal police investigations.

The widely circulated video shows a harrowing scene in which the inspector repeatedly punches and beats his wife while their children scream and beg him to stop. The emotional distress of the children is evident as they attempt to shield their mother from the blows, pleading for mercy in a situation no child should ever witness.

Sources within the Zone XI Police Command in Osogbo confirmed the officer’s arrest. According to an insider familiar with the development, the brutal assault was triggered when the wife asked for money to pay part of their children's outstanding school fees. The children had been sent home from school after being unable to sit for their third-term exams due to unpaid fees.

The insider revealed, “The request for financial support for school fees was what sparked the assault. He attacked her violently in front of the children. It wasn’t the first time either. There’s a consistent pattern of abuse that has now caught the attention of police leadership.”

Inspector Olowookere, a native of Ijero in Ekiti State, is no stranger to accusations of domestic violence. Several people close to the family have reportedly confirmed that he has a long-standing history of abusing his wife over what are often described as trivial matters. This recent incident appears to be the most public and damaging, especially with clear video evidence now available.

The video quickly gained traction online, prompting an immediate internal review by the Nigeria Police Force. Upon confirmation of the incident, law enforcement officials wasted no time in arresting the officer. His detention was confirmed by the police authority in Zone XI, with officials stating that disciplinary processes have already begun and the case may also be referred for criminal prosecution.

A senior police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, “This act is shameful and unacceptable. The officer has been detained and will face the full weight of the law. His actions go against everything the police stand for. We will not tolerate domestic violence, especially from those entrusted with public protection.”

The arrest has reignited widespread discussions around domestic abuse, particularly when the abuser holds a position of power. Advocates for women’s rights and child protection have applauded the swift action but are calling for continued pressure to ensure that the case is not swept under the rug.

Human rights lawyer and activist, Adetola Ayeni, commented on the case, saying, “The fact that this man is a police officer makes this incident even more appalling. It sends the wrong message if people in uniform feel they can act with impunity. His arrest is a good first step, but it must lead to full accountability through the justice system.”

The welfare of the wife and children is now a growing concern. Advocacy groups have stepped in to offer support, with many calling for counseling services for the children who were clearly traumatized by the violent encounter. Several citizens have also expressed interest in contributing towards the family’s school fees to help ease their current hardship.

Social media has remained abuzz with commentary, with many users expressing satisfaction at the officer’s arrest and calling for harsher penalties for domestic abusers, especially those in official positions. Others urged the government to implement more robust protections for victims of domestic violence.

As Inspector Olowookere remains in custody, public focus has now shifted toward ensuring that the case is thoroughly investigated and prosecuted. Many Nigerians hope that justice in this case will set a precedent and reinforce the message that no one, regardless of their rank or status, is above the law.
