Nollywood Actress Peggy Ovire Rejects Taiye Arimoro Allegations Describing Claims Misleading False While Investigation Continues Publicly

 

Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire has firmly dismissed a ₦100 million lawsuit filed against her by fellow actor Taiye Arimoro, describing the claims as misleading, selective, and materially false. The dispute stems from an incident on November 11, 2025, during the conclusion of Arimoro’s contract, which reportedly ended at 11:59 PM.

Arimoro alleged that he was physically assaulted by Ovire when attempts were made to block his departure from the movie set. According to the actor, the production manager initially prevented his vehicle from leaving, and a second car later obstructed the exit. Feeling unsafe, Arimoro broadcast the situation live on Instagram to document the alleged events.

He further claimed that tensions escalated at the estate gate, where he was confronted by Ovire and her team. Arimoro reported that his tyres were deflated and that he was surrounded by multiple individuals. The actor stated that the encounter resulted in injuries, including a fractured jaw, bite marks, and bruises.

Peggy Ovire, however, strongly rejected these accusations through a statement delivered by her lawyers. She asserted that Arimoro was twisting the narrative to portray himself as a victim and that he attempted to flee the scene immediately after the incident. The actress’ legal team explained that any effort to stop him was to ensure his presence until authorities arrived.

The statement clarified that Peggy’s only physical interaction was a light push after Arimoro allegedly tried to deflate her tyres. Claims of mob action, harassment, or broken bones were described as completely fabricated. Ovire’s team also accused Arimoro of deliberately manipulating public perception through a selectively edited Instagram Live broadcast and carefully chosen CCTV clips.

Authorities are currently investigating the matter, with both the police and the Actors Guild of Nigeria involved in assessing the incident. Peggy Ovire emphasized that her silence throughout the controversy should not be misconstrued as cowardice, urging the public to await the outcome of the official investigation.

On social media, she captioned a post, “Until the police investigation is concluded, let it be clear that my silence should not be mistaken for cowardice.” The statement reflects the actress’ commitment to transparency and her insistence that the truth surrounding the alleged altercation will ultimately emerge.
