Court Grants Woman in Zion Ministry Testimony Scandal Bail at ₦1 Million

A magistrate’s court in Lagos has granted bail to Helen, a woman accused of giving a misleading testimony regarding a house acquisition. The presiding magistrate, S.O. Chukwuani, set her bail at ₦1 million, with a requirement that she must present a surety who has a valid three-year tax clearance.

The court adjourned the case to April 9, 2025, for the next hearing.

Helen, who has been at the center of the controversy, firmly denied any allegations of deception. Speaking to journalists after the hearing, she maintained that her testimony was based on faith rather than an attempt to mislead the public.

"I was not part of any scheme to deceive people," she insisted. "I gave the testimony believing that I would receive it. No one arranged anything with me, and I did not collect anything from anyone."

She further explained that she had indeed visited the property and was in the process of securing it at the time of her testimony. "I went for an inspection of the house, and we were working towards getting it. That was why I spoke about it," she added.

The case has sparked public interest, with some questioning the line between faith-based declarations and deliberate misinformation. While her defense argues that her statements were an expression of belief, prosecutors allege that they were made with the intent to mislead.

With the next court session set for April, all eyes will be on the proceedings to see how the legal system interprets her claims. Until then, Helen remains free on bail, provided she meets the court’s conditions.
