Nnewi North Chairman Echezona Anazodo Hails Soludo’s Legacy, Pledges APGA Support Ahead of 2025 Polls

The Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Mr. Echezona Anazodo, has expressed strong confidence in the transformational agenda of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, citing unprecedented infrastructural developments and robust empowerment programs reshaping the local landscape.

At a recent press briefing held in Nnewi, Anazodo did not mince words in his praise for the Governor, whose leadership under the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) he described as historic. He emphasized that Soludo's government has delivered tangible progress, especially in the areas of road infrastructure, youth empowerment, and agricultural support — initiatives that are rapidly redefining the region’s socioeconomic trajectory.

The dualization of the Agulu-Nnobi Nnewi-Ozubulu-Ihiala road is among the signature projects currently under construction. Anazodo described this effort as a strategic investment that holds the potential to transform Nnewi — a well-known industrial hub — into an even more formidable commercial center. “This road is not just a route; it is a lifeline for economic growth. The value it will bring to trade and transport in our region cannot be overstated,” he noted.

Community members have begun witnessing the benefits of a skill acquisition drive championed by the state, which has already empowered around 500 residents across agriculture, small-scale manufacturing, and trade. This, Anazodo explained, is part of a broader effort to combat poverty and unemployment while preparing the youth for sustainable livelihoods.

Six months into his own administration, the Chairman highlighted several accomplishments reflective of his commitment to grassroots development. These include subsidized JAMB registration for students, the distribution of fertilizers and high-yield crop seedlings to over 400 local farmers, and the targeted empowerment of more than 200 youths.

“This is the most impactful season of governance we’ve had in a long time — and it’s happening right in the rainy season, when most projects would typically slow down. Governor Soludo has changed that narrative,” Anazodo remarked. “The people are happy. There’s a visible difference in our communities, and our loyalty to this government is total.”

A crucial element of Anazodo’s remarks also centered on political mobilization ahead of the 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election scheduled for November 8. He pledged unwavering support for the APGA and Governor Soludo’s re-election campaign, promising to rally the electorate in Nnewi North to vote in favor of continuity.

“We are not just witnessing change; we are part of it. That’s why we will stand firmly with APGA and Governor Soludo. Our support is not just political — it is a recognition of progress,” he said with conviction.

Amid recent speculations about aggressive tax collection in local markets, the Chairman addressed public concerns directly. He refuted claims of over-taxation, stressing that his administration has implemented a transparent and digitized revenue collection system aimed at eliminating extortion and ensuring efficiency. “We have not collected any revenue from market traders. Those spreading such claims are misinformed,” he asserted.

Establishing a solid relationship between the government and the press, Anazodo emphasized the necessity of continuous communication with the media. This, he believes, builds a bridge of trust between the authorities and the public, promoting accountability and good governance. “Our doors are open. We value media engagement as a means to inform, clarify, and strengthen public confidence,” he added.

As the 2025 election approaches, the political landscape in Anambra is poised for intensified activity. Yet, in Nnewi North, the alignment between local governance and state initiatives appears to be fueling a growing sense of optimism. For Chairman Anazodo, the message is clear — development is underway, and it is only the beginning.
