Prince Jude Osumuoh Commits to Transparency, Stronger Government-Community Ties in Nnewi

Prince Jude Osumuoh, the President-General of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, has once again emphasized his administration's commitment to openness, transparency, and accountability as key pillars in leading the ancient town of Nnewi into a more unified and progressive future. During a recent media briefing at his office located in the Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Prince Osumuoh shared his resolve to deepen engagement between the government and the people, promising that his administration will remain people-oriented and fair in all dealings.

While addressing a group of journalists on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the PG reaffirmed that his leadership is rooted in the ideals of inclusiveness, mutual respect, and accessibility. He acknowledged the shift in governance patterns and described it as a wake-up call that requires all public administrators to embrace transparency and be accountable to the people they serve.

According to Osumuoh, residents of Nnewi are beginning to feel more connected to the leadership of Nzuko-Ora because of the trust and credibility his administration has built over time. "The peace we now enjoy is not accidental. It is a product of deliberate openness and accountability. People are gradually realizing that this administration has no hidden agenda," he said.

Support across various groups in Nnewi, he noted, is gathering momentum as individuals and community leaders rally around a vision of unity and transformation. "Our people are now united behind a common purpose. That purpose is progress. Everyone wants to see Nnewi move forward," he added.

Maintaining open lines of communication with both political and traditional leaders remains a top priority for Prince Osumuoh. He assured that his administration would continue to collaborate closely with Hon. Echezona Anazodo, the Executive Chairman of Nnewi North, and the President-Generals (PGs) of the four quarters of Nnewi. He stressed that all activities must pass through the Local Government structure, underscoring that power has rightly returned to the grassroots.

Efforts to alleviate the economic burden on residents, particularly shop owners, have also been central to the administration's agenda. Prince Osumuoh took time to address recent rumors alleging a blanket taxation policy on business owners. He categorically dismissed the claims, stating that the current system considers individual financial capacities before levies are applied.

“Taxation in Nnewi under this administration is considerate and humane. No one is forced to pay what they cannot afford,” he clarified. He further explained that all levies are systematically structured and accounted for, pointing out that Mayor Nnewi North, whom he described as a compassionate leader, has created an environment of understanding and dialogue between the government and the people.

“Whenever we encounter a shop owner who genuinely cannot pay the stipulated levy, we take the situation into account and offer relief. This is not a government that punishes its people,” Osumuoh explained.

As the Chief of Staff in the Local Government structure, Prince Osumuoh emphasized that their revenue collection model is tailored to reflect both fairness and empathy. Transparency, he insisted, guides all financial dealings and there is zero tolerance for mismanagement or any form of exploitation.

Looking ahead, the President-General touched on one of his major campaign promises—constructing a modern Town Hall for the people of Nnewi. He expressed deep commitment to seeing this project through and shared that the groundwork has already begun to ensure its completion within the next one and a half years.

“I want history to remember me as the first President-General to give Nnewi a Town Hall after many years of operating without one. It will be a symbol of unity, progress, and pride for our people,” he stated with optimism.

The proposed Nnewi Town Hall is expected to serve as a multifunctional civic center that will host meetings, cultural events, and community forums. Beyond infrastructure, Osumuoh views it as a unifying space that will help consolidate community identity and foster dialogue among various stakeholders.

Prince Osumuoh's administration is gradually gaining recognition for its focus on inclusive governance and development-driven leadership. As more citizens join in supporting his vision, the journey toward a more transparent and community-centered Nnewi appears to be on a promising trajectory.
