Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola Accuses APC Government Of Failing Nigerians While ADC Promises To Restore Good Governance

Former Osun State Governor and African Democratic Congress chieftain, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has launched a sharp critique of the All Progressives Congress-led federal government, claiming it has mastered political manoeuvring at the expense of meaningful governance. Addressing a massive crowd during the inauguration of ADC officials and party structures in Ila/Ifedayo/Boluwaduro Federal Constituency, Aregbesola insisted that the administration has worsened poverty, hunger, and insecurity across the nation.

“This government has scored A1 in politics and F9 in good governance,” Aregbesola asserted, emphasizing the ADC’s determination to offer Nigerians a viable alternative. According to him, the ruling party’s focus on political games has left critical sectors in disarray, with ordinary citizens bearing the brunt of inadequate leadership.

Highlighting the state of national infrastructure, the former governor noted that more than 76 per cent of Nigeria’s 37,000 kilometres of federal roads remain impassable, yet government attention has disproportionately favoured the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project. Aregbesola argued that this initiative would have minimal impact on the broader economy, further illustrating the administration’s misplaced priorities.

Security, economic stability, and education were identified as the primary areas where the federal government has underperformed. Aregbesola criticized the handling of these sectors, describing the current situation as a threat to social and economic development, and contrasting it sharply with his own tenure as Osun State governor from 2010 to 2018.

During his administration, Aregbesola pointed out, innovative programs like the school feeding initiative directly benefited over 50,000 children, while youth empowerment schemes reached more than 60,000 young people. Pro-poor policies implemented under his leadership were credited with significantly reducing hunger, demonstrating a model of governance focused on human development rather than political theatrics.

Vowing to restore “responsible leadership and good governance,” Aregbesola positioned the ADC as a party committed to the welfare of ordinary Nigerians. He described it as “the friend of the masses” and promised to take the party’s message to every ward, village, and city across Osun State, urging residents to support the ADC in upcoming local and national elections.

The event in Ila-Orangun signaled the beginning of a comprehensive statewide tour, during which ADC structures are set to be inaugurated across all nine federal constituencies in Osun. Aregbesola’s remarks underscored the party’s commitment to building grassroots networks and preparing for the 2026 elections, presenting the ADC as a credible vehicle for political change in the state.

With growing discontent over socio-economic hardships, Aregbesola’s speech sought to galvanize supporters and highlight the contrast between ADC’s promises and the perceived failures of the federal government, framing the party as a proactive alternative capable of addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
